Cerakoting

Pricing and Workflow Process

Note on Cost Efficiency – Prepping and coating a single item requires nearly the same amount of time as batching multiple items. To help save costs and reduce turnaround times, we recommend coating multiple parts together whenever possible. This approach lowers the cost per item and streamlines the entire process.

Clean Parts!

To help keep costs down, please bring or send your parts cleaned and free of grease and oil. A simple wash with soap and water or brake cleaner is usually sufficient and allows us to focus on coating rather than cleaning. Please Note: Sent in dirty parts will incur a $20 cleaning fee per part up $100 for batch of 4-5 pieces. Properly cleaned parts ensure a superior finish, faster turnaround, and lower overall costs.

Media Blasting

Media blasting is included in our pricing and is a crucial step for preparing the surface. It removes contaminants and ensures a smooth, uniform finish. We use a specific abrasive media designed for high-quality results, helping prevent issues caused by oil and debris later on. Trust us to handle the blasting for optimal results.

How to Get Your Parts Coated

  1. Send your parts along with all your contact information and a note specifying which parts get which colors.
  2. Once received, we will prepare an official estimate and invoice.
  3. We’ll contact you to review the scope, answer questions, and clarify any details.

Payment Policy

A 100% payment of the invoice total is required before we begin work. This ensures our labor and materials are secured without delays or holds. Payment upfront is non-negotiable.

WTF IS CERAKOTE?

Cerakote is a high-performance, industrial ceramic coating renowned for its exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and vibrant color options. Originally developed for firearms, Cerakote has gained popularity across various industries—from automotive to aerospace—because of its ability to protect and enhance surfaces while maintaining an attractive finish.

Why Cerakote is Cool:

  • Unmatched Durability: Resistant to scratches, chemicals, and wear, ensuring your items stay protected and looking great longer.
  • Customizable Appearance: Available in a spectrum of colors, finishes, and textures—from matte to gloss—allowing for truly personalized designs.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Provides a protective barrier against rust and corrosion, ideal for outdoor or tactical applications.
  • Ease of Maintenance: Surfaces coated with Cerakote are easier to clean and maintain, reducing upkeep costs over time.

Cerakote Application Process:

  1. Preparation: We thoroughly clean and prep the item to remove any dirt, oil, or existing coatings. This step ensures proper adhesion.
  2. Sanding and Masking: Surfaces are carefully sanded to create a suitable profile, and masking is applied to areas that require protection.
  3. Application: Multiple thin coats of Cerakote are sprayed onto the surface, with each layer baked to cure and bond firmly.
  4. Curing: The item is baked in a dedicated oven at specific temperatures, typically around 250°F (121°C), for a set time to achieve maximum hardness and adhesion.
  5. Inspection and Final Touches: Post-curing, we inspect the finish for quality and durability, then perform any necessary touch-ups before return shipping.

Vapor honing is also commonly known as wet blasting, liquid honing, vapor blasting, dustless blasting, or slurry mix blasting.

The multi-size grit/abrasive media (usually glass bead) is mixed with water and compressed air to blend before being propelled through a blast nozzle. This process is known as slurry blasting or vapor honing.
